This game is a nice simple exercise - I like it. I think as a next step, some trickier combat puzzles and advanced AI would push it further.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'll probably add more levels after I add some balance features.
Great game, really cute graphics, and love pairing the cactus with a balloon. My only wish is for some more difficulty. I see "nonviolent" in your tags - following for more of that.
Wow, thank you so much, I'm really grateful for your words, I'm really getting motivated to create more content for the game and I usually create nonviolent games so be sure there will be other projects like that! :D
Super rad! This is a really cool collab. My criticisms - only two:
1. Since the info panels take up so much of the screen, I really would have loved for this to extend further, maybe even have a full screen option, and have the info panel show up next to the art.
2. Some of the hitboxes need some work. Check out Quote, Skullkid, Spyro, Shovel Knight, and Servebot to see what I mean.
Thanks so much for the feedback bro! There’s a couple of things I’d like to fix so maybe in a couple of months I’ll go back and revisit. But for now I’mma take the knowledge I got from this and my other projects and start production on a game 😍😍😍 I’ll probably send you some stuff once it gets going.
I was modestly amused. Had to cheat to pass the last challenge. Thanks for the gem.
Woo
Woah drama. I love Tyler's work, but really don't see the comparison here. This is definitely its own and the name quite obviously derives from super mario. It's a hop and bop for goodness sake (with some slash and bash).
Anyway. I like it, the style is cute, but I wish this demo had more exposure to skills early on. Right now it just feels like classic mario with a sword - not really fun. And if you are going to show off a demo, you should put your players right into the good action so they get a feel for the best parts of the game. I am a huge fan of roguelikes and I loved Second Wind though so I will definitely check back for more :)
I'm heavily considering giving you guys an extra level with enemies to mess around with the items. As is you only really get to the "good part" after the second level, when things like the spellbook give you three fire shots, two bombs, etc. and then none of that comes into play with the boss as much as it could.
Awesome, would play the eff out of this if it were a full game. BTW heads up, Tomfulp link is broken.
FIXED!
Here's my feedback.
I get it's a jam with a time limit, so good job pumping something out - be proud of your accomplishment!
With that said, a few ways you can improve it to take it to the next level:
- Bugs. You know about them, I won't repeat them - just fix 'em.
- Make the slime bounce when he lands, perhaps even add a small animation before he jumps like he's squishing to the ground. Slimes are squishy!
- Lighten the graphics for your slime and enemies. The scenery and UI is so bright and shiny, but the characters are super dark.
- Add some effects, i.e. if you hit an enemy don't just end the game like that. Have the slime get knocked back, blink red a few times very quickly, and fade away like it would in an adventure game.
- Add more to do. You need some variety in a game like this; maybe powerups, ability to eat certain enemies to grow, transform into different types of slimes, etc.
Anyway, that's all I have time for, just a few ideas. Good luck and hope to see you improve this game some more!
Thank you!
Smashing idea. Love where it's going. Keep up the awesome.
Thanks! We appreciate it and will be sure to keep up the awesome :D
Great game, well polished and fun concept. 5/5. I loved that there were so many alternate ways you can win levels. For example...
*SPOILER*
For the ghost pipe levels you can just park your ghost right at the top of the flag. 100% of the time he jumps into you and you get 3 stars.
oohh you found out that one. yep there are many solutions in other levels
