I like the painterly style. Is this concept art? Or a standalone piece?

Just a standalone thing I did.
Pipes, this is awesome. I really dig it. Somehow I am getting a bit of a Castle Crashers vibe from it. If you're looking for constructive criticism, the only thing I would suggest is to push the contrast on the head itself - a further range of light/dark values would help it feel more dimensional. As it is right now I feel like it's stuck between 2D and 3D.
Thank you! I kept trying to push it farther, and then felt like I was doing it too much. So I'll work on that~
I dig the style. I only have a few things to recommend.
1. The arrow would look better foreshortened IMO. Even if it's just very slightly. It theoretically could have flown in at that angle, but it just looks strange being so perfectly on an axis parallel to the viewing plane.
2. A bit of blood splatter around the wounded eye would go a long way. Just a couple of tiny marks outside of the blackness, even.
3. I keep going back and forth on this, but I kind of feel like the shape for her right shoulder (our left) could be extended out a little bit. It looks like her center of gravity is a little off, and almost like she's straining to stick her head forward. That actually adds to the strangeness and odd appeal though, so I don't know if it's even a problem. Hah!
Anyway, nice piece. *follows*
Thank you! I can see what you mean about the arrow and the blood splatter. I'll definitely be thinking about things along those lines in the future. And as for the shoulder, I imagined her sitting down and possibly slouching a little bit, but since you can't see the rest of her body, that's open to interpretation. Thanks for the feedback man.
Sweet n' snazzy. This is awesome. Your scarier stuff is actually why I followed you so.. Glad to see this pop up :P
It's subtle, but the whirling lines around the head combined with the twisty neck give it a weird and uncomfortable sense of motion. Like it's turning its head, but also rotating its head, if that makes sense. I really like that and actually think it would be cool if it was intensified a little more.
i'm so glad you liked it <3, it's been a while since i drew scary stuff!
Did you do all that hatching by hand, or do you have a brush/texture of some sort? Only asking because if you do, I want to steal it.... lol
Also awesome use of negative space.
Hey thanks! The texture / pattern I used was from Manga Studio - it comes as a screentone pack within the program. Not sure I can export it or share a link, but I would if I knew how!

yes it is...
thanks!
Grats on first dude
:)
I hope I didn't make you self conscious with my comment in the thread. Either way, quite noble of you to offer the prize to another winner.
Haha, I didn't get first yet. There is some stiff competition.
Sweet. This kind of makes me want to make some 3D models and do a little web series with tankmen. Wouldn't be too hard...
You should do a turnaround for this model so we can see it in its full glory.
Thanks @zhon - you should! there is another C4D artist that has started a C4D crew if your are interested in working on new things. NG will always appreciate more tankman series

It's got a storybook feel to it. I like it. I'm with the last guy though - care to expand upon the meaning?
Thank you so much! Its about where fairies come from XD the fairy is telling the caterpillar that she was once just like her... x)
